The firm handles contentious and non-contentious matters. The firm has successfully represented clients in different complex matters both commercial and non-commercial in the Superior Courts of record in Nigeria. Our approach to contentious matters is premised on achieving the client's commercial objective with a view to retaining business relationship of the client.
In achieving this, we analyze each situation and advise on the best approach to be adopted, as we have developed strategies for both conciliatory and adversarial approaches to litigation. In this regard, we engage our clients in a holistic manner by keeping the client informed at every stage.
Upon engagement, we provide a case management and strategy paper that gives details of our tentative approach and options that we opine are most suitable for the client. We also provide an opinion paper at the inception of the engagement and further opinions as the matter progresses should the need arise. We always keep the client apprised of developments in their case by sending Court updates upon return from court.
We also send quarterly updates of cases handled for clients to their respective auditors. At the end of the year, clients receive an update of the cases being handled by the firm on their behalf with analyses on likelihood of success, strategy and current status.
Company Secretarial Services
We routinely advise on matters relating to business establishments in Nigeria. We also undertake the incorporation of all types of companies at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). We have advised several companies with foreign investors and foreign equity with registration at the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission and assist such companies with obtaining the requisite business permits.
We have provided full range company secretarial services to a number of public and private companies operating in the various sectors of the Nigerian economic sphere. In doing this we have engaged in the following:
- Preparation and circulation of Notices of company/board meetings, minutes and resolutions
- Attending company/board meetings as active participants by preparing minutes of meetings and also giving legal advice when required
